@SFSUwrestling To Travel To Nebraska To Participate in the Midwest Duals

SAN FRANCISCO—Coming off of two duals against Division I opponents, the SF State Gators will return to the mat this weekend in Kearney, Neb., as they will participate in the Midwest Duals at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds this Saturday, February 16.  The Gators will face Adams State (9am CT), Central Oklahoma (10:30am CT), Southwest Minnesota State (12pm CT) and Fort Hays State (1:30pm CT).

SF State (1-4, 0-0 RMAC) is coming off a 0-2 Sunday afternoon as they lost to NCAA Division I institutions, Cal State Bakersfield and No. 18 Stanford.  In its 32-12 loss to Cal State Bakersfield (5-2), the Gators recorded victories from Sam Alnassiri at 285 by a 5-4 decision, Joshua Weinberg at 141 by an 11-8 decision and by fall at 165 by Tyson Kuahine at 4:10.  The Gators lost 30-11 to the Cardinal (5-2) as SF State won at 125 as Christian Ramos picked up a win by forfeit.  They also won at 133 where Fern Giron won by a 17-0 technical fall. In their match against the Cardinal, SF State had three matches that were by two points or less.  At 141, Weinberg lost by a 3-2 decision.  Then at 149, Dylan Furtado lost by a 6-4 decision in overtime and at 157, Tavis Ino lost by a 2-1 decision.

Two Gators have compiled 11 wins this season in Alnassiri (11-6) at 285 and Mike Marshall (11-11) at 174.  Four other grapplers have achieved at least a 500 record of better this season in Giron (7-4, 133), Weinberg (8-5, 141), Kuahine (8-8, 165) and Ramos (1-1, 125) against predominately Division I opponents. SF State also has recorded 18 wins by fall this season with Alnassiri leading the way with four.  Marshall has three with six others with one apiece in Johnny Costa, Gabe Fuentes, Thomas Turcol, Furtado, Ino and Kuahine.
 
The Gators will face four NCAA Division II opponents this Saturday in the Midwest Duals. Adams State is 0-2 overall in duals this season The Grizzlies are led by Martin Ramirez who is 12-5 and ranked fourth in the nation at 133.  Central Oklahoma is 4-2 and will face No. 10 Lindenwood and Nebraska-Kearney before participating in the Midwest Duals.  The Bronchos are led by Spencer Rutherford, who is No. 7 in the nation with his 19-7 record. 

SF State will also face Southwest State (Minn), who is 3-3 entering this weekend.  The Mustangs are led by Cole Wilson who is 12-3 at 285.  The Gators last opponent of Saturday will be Fort Hays State (1-2).  Jon Inman leads the Tigers with his 17-1 record at 184, as he his sixth in the nation in that weight class.

After this weekend, the Gators will return to the mat on January 23 when they travel to Riverside, Calif., for a 5pm starting conference match with No. 8 Cal Baptist.  That will be their last dual before they participate in the RMAC Championships at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., on January 31.
