@SFState_WVB Splits Home and Road Contest This Week

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team will have a split schedule playing at home and on the road this week.  The Gators will begin the week hosting Stanislaus State on Tuesday before traveling to Arcata, Calif., to take on Humboldt State.  Both matches are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
 
SF State enters this week with an overall record of 1-14, in the CCAA they are 0-7.  At home, the Gators are 0-7 and on the road they are 0-7.  Last week, SF State fell in straight-sets to UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos. 
 
By The Numbers
The Gators are averaging 10.18 kills per set, hitting .135, their opponents are averaging 14.00 kills per set while hitting .270.  Leading the team with 140 kills is Christine JohnsonHaley Halpert is first on the team, averaging 2.81 kills per set. Linda Aerne leads the team with 405 assists, averaging 7.94 assists per set which is 10th in the CCAA.
 
Who Is Hot
Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Williams was a force last week at the net for the Gators.  The transfer from the University of Rhode Island finished the week with eight total blocks, including four solo blocks.  For the year she now has 37 total blocks.  Halpert also had a big weekend for the Gators.  The Gators outside hitter recorded 25 kills to lead SF State, averaging 4.17 kills per set. 
 
Double-Double
After going the first 12 matches of the season without a double-double, the Gators had two in the last two weeks.  Against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Aerne recorded her first career double-double with 44 assists and 10 digs.  Against UC San Diego on Friday, Johnson recorded her first career double-double as well, throwing down 12 kills and grabbing 12 digs.
 
Home/Road Splits
The Gators have played exactly seven home and seven true road contests this season.  At home, the Gators are hitting .171 and averaging 11.0 kills per set.  On the road, SF State is hitting .086 and averaging 9.2 kills per set.

Stanislaus State enters Tuesday's contest with a 7-9 record and are 4-3 in the CCAA.  They are 0-2 away from Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.  Last week, the Warriors went 1-1, falling to Chico State in three before taking down Humboldt State in straight-sets.  They have lost four of their last six overall. As a team, they are averaging 12.5 kills per set, hitting .178, their opponents are averaging 12.5 kills per set while hitting .195. 
 
Who To Watch
Senior outside hitter Blair Ehrlich leads the Warriors with 284 kills, averaging 4.15 kills per set.  She is second in the CCAA in kills per set.  The native of San Diego is fourth all-time at Stanislaus State in kills with 1,176 kills.  She has recorded 10 or more kills 14 time this season, with a season-high 21 kills against Western Oregon on Sept. 10.
 
Series Versus The Warriors
All-time the Gators are 53-15 against Stanislaus State in a series that dates back to 1976 season.  Last year the Warriors took both halves of the season series sweeping the Gators for the first time since the 2002 season.  The last time out on Sept. 29 at SF State, the Warriors defeated the Gators 3-1.

Humboldt State enters this week's contest with an overall record of 8-6, in the CCAA they are 3-3.  At Lumberjack Arena they are 2-0.  Last week, they went 0-2 falling on the road 3-0 at Chico State and Stanislaus State.  As a team, the Jacks are averaging 12.6 kills per set while hitting .188, their opponents are averaging 11.9 kills per set while hitting .180.
 
Who To Watch
Symone Haden leads the team with 157 kills on the year, averaging 3.20 kills per set.  Last week, she tallied 19 kills, 11 coming against Chico State, that match she recorded her 11th double-double of the year grabbing 15 digs to go along with her 11 kills.
 
Series Versus The Jack
The Gators and Lumberjacks series dates back to the 1974 season when SF State lost to Humboldt State 3-0.  All-time, the Gators are 43-22 against the Jacks.  The last time these two teams faced each other was on Oct. 31, 2015 when the Gators defeated Humboldt State in five in Arcata, giving the Gators the season sweep.
