SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team will play a split, road and home schedule this week, starting with a road contest at rival Sonoma State on Wednesday. They will wrap up the week taking on Humboldt State at home on Friday. Friday's contest will be the senior night, both matches are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
SF State enters this week with a 1-21 record and are 0-14 in the CCAA. Last weekend they went 0-2 on the road, falling to Chico State and Stanislaus State in straight-sets. With the losses the Gators fall to 0-10 on the road this season.
Last weekend, the Gators were led by
Abby Griffith who had 11 kills, averaging 1.83 kills per set. She hit an astounding .435 for the weekend.
Danielle Ryan finished the week with 10 kills and 21 digs, averaging a team-best 3.50 digs per set.

Both matches this week will feature live video and live stats. The live stats are a free service and can be accessed on the volleyball schedule page. Wednesday's match at Sonoma State will have video provided by the Seawolf Sports Network, a low definition broadcast will be available for free, a high definition broadcast can be purchased for $6.95. Who Is Hot
Over the last five matches a pair of young Gators have stepped up. Ryan is averaging 1.50 kills per set while recording 4.00 digs per set. Meanwhile, fellow freshman outside hitter
Lexi Chabiniak is averaging 1.56 kills per set during that same stretch. For the Year, Chabiniak has 37 kills in 28 sets played, while Ryan has 80 kills in 42 sets played.
By The Numbers
As a team, the Gators are averaging 9.97 kills per set, while hitting .124. Their opponents are averaging 14.16 kills per set, while hitting .268. At home, SF State's attack is much stronger, averaging 10.54 kills per set, while hitting .147. The Gators average 13.35 digs per set at the friendly confines as well.
Senior Night
Friday's contest will be the final home game for three outstanding student athletes. Playing in their finale home match will be

Linda Aerne and
Rachel Stoerkel.
Muin, a three-time letter winner has 43 career kills, hitting .193. She moved to the setter position this season where she has played in 40 sets averaging 2.53 assists per set with 1.42 digs per set. She also has six service aces.
Linda Aerne is a two-time letter winner for the Gators. In two seasons she has played in 106 sets, recording 704 assists, averaging 6.64 assists per set. This season she has career-bests in assists (514), assists per set (7.04), digs (108), and digs per set (1.48).
Rachel Stoerkel is also a two-time letter winner for the Gators. The middle blocker has played in 11 career matches and 28 sets. She has 25 kills, and 12 total blocks. In three sets played this season she has one dig and two attacks.
About The Seawolves
Sonoma State enters Wednesday's contest second in the CCAA North Division with a conference record of 10-4. Overall, the Seawolves are 12-9 and riding a six match winning streak, that includes a straight-sets victory over Chico State who was previously unbeaten at home. As a team, they are hitting .227 which is third best in the CCAA and averaging 13.54 kills per set which is second in the conference. Their opponents are hitting .218 and averaging 11.99 kills per set.
Who To Watch
Senior middle blocker Rachel Andrews does it all for Sonoma State. She's leading the team with 209 kills, averaging 2.65 kills per set. Her .384 attack percentage is tops in the CCAA, she also averages .99 blocks per set. Against the Gators on Sep. 17 she had 11 kills on 20 swings with two block assists.
Series Versus The Seawolves
All-time the Gators are 27-45 against Sonoma State. The series dates back to the 1975 season when the Gators defeated the Seawolves 2-0. Since SF State resumed playing volleyball in 2008, the Gators are 4-12 against Sonoma State. The last time out was on Sept. 17 at home, where the Gators fell to their rivals in straight-sets (18-25, 21-25, 18-25).
About The Lumberjacks
Humboldt State enters this week with a 10-12 overall record and are 5-9 in the CCAA. They have lost three in a row, including back-to-back four-set defeats on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. On the road this year, Humboldt State is 3-6. As a team, they are averaging 12.6 kills per set, hitting .185. Their opponents are averaging 11.9 kills per set, hitting .180.
Who To Watch
Senior outside hitter Hayden Symone leads the team with 270 kills, which is seventh in the CCAA. She averages 3.69 kills per set. On Oct. 15 against the Gators, she was largely held in check, recording just six kill son 24 swings for a .167 attack percentage.
Series Versus The Lumberjacks
The Gators and Lumberjacks series dates back to the 1974 season when SF State lost to Humboldt State 3-0. All-time, the Gators are 43-23 against the Jacks. Since the Gators resumed playing volleyball in 2008, SF State is 11-6 against the Jacks. The last time these two teams squared off was in Arcata on Oct. 15 where the Lumberjacks defeated the Gators in straight-sets 17-25, 21-25, 23-25.
