SAN FRANCISCO – Playing with as much intensity and energy as they did to begin the year, the San Francisco State women's volleyball team battled visiting Humboldt State, giving them everything they had. In the end, it wasn't enough as the Jacks took the match 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 15-25) on Senior Night at the Swamp.
Through two sets, SF State (1-23/0-16 CCAA) was there point for point against Humboldt State (11-12/6-9 CCAA). The difference being four attack errors, as HSU recorded just 10 in the opening sets and the Gators tallied 14. In the end, the Gators hit .085 on the night, recording 29 kills on 106 swings with 20 errors.
Danielle Ryan finished with a team-high eight kills, she also tallied six digs.
Christine Johnson finished the night three kills shy of a double-double, finishing the evening with seven kills and a match-high 14 digs.
Tonight the Gators said farewell to three fantastic student-athletes who played their final home matches in the purple and gold.

Rachel Stoerkel all saw playing time with Aerne finishing with 12 assists and four digs. Muin was a dig shy of a double-double, with 10 assists and nine digs.
In the opening set, the Gatos trailed by as much as six, 19-13 but rallied back to cut the deficit to one, 21-20 forcing Humboldt State to burn a timeout. Out of the break the Jacks went on a 4-2 run and took the set 25-22.
In the second period, SF State jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but the Jacks turned the momentum back in their favor going on 6-0 run to take a 7-4 lead. But the Gators would turn the tide and a massive solo block by
Abby Griffith knotted the set up 8-8. The play at the net for SF State helped keep the Gators in the match, SF State finished the night with six total blocks, but tipped plenty more balls. Ultimately, the Jacks took the second set 25-21.
In the third and final frame, the Gators wore down. SF State hit a match-low -.033, recording just five kills on 30 swings. The Jacks jumped out to an early lead and held on to it. SF State could not muster another tide-turning rally, and fell in the final set, 25-15.
The Gators return to action next Friday when they begin a two-game road trip to wrap up the season at Cal Poly Pomona. First serve is at 7:00 p.m.
