SAN FRANCISCO---  SF State had its final two home duals of the regular season against Simon Fraser and No. 11 Colorado Mesa.  The Gators went 1-1 with a 33-14 over the Clan and losing 23-14 to the nationally ranked Mavericks.  Prior to today's dual with Simon Fraser, the Gators recognized their three seniors in Gabe Fuentes, Tavis Ino and Calvin Nicholls in a brief ceremony. 
 
SF State (5-7, 1-2 RMAC) started the afternoon with a 33-14 win over the Simon Fraser Clan.  The Gators lost the first match by a 3-2 decision at 197 as Calvin Nicholls lost to the Clan Josh Kim.  Sam Alnassiri gave the Gators a 6-3 lead with a win by fall in sudden victory (8:16) over Sean Molle.
 
Simon Fraser retook the lead (7-6) when Oscar Bulaqui won by a 15-7 major decision over Huy Nguyen at 125.  The Gators retook the lead for good when Fern Giron won by a 5-4 decision over Simon Fraser's Cruz Velasquez.  SF State won the next three matches by forfeit to take a 27-7 with John Sha, Dylan Furtado and Tavis Ino all recording victories.
 
The Clan narrowed the gap (27-10) with a 4-2 decision by Tyler McLean over the Gators' Tyson Kuahine at 165.  Mike Marshall gave the Gators a 33-10 lead with a win by forfeit at 174.  Morgan Smith won the final match of the dual at 184 with a 13-5 major decision over Gabe Fuentes to make the final 33-14 SF State.
 
In their second dual of the afternoon, the Gators blank with the 11th ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks.  Marcus Haughian put the Mavericks on the board first with a win by fall at 197 over the Gators' Nicholls at 1:28.  Alnassri cut into the Maverick lead (6-4) with an 11-2 major decision over Colter Bentley at 285. 
 
SF State took the next match at 125 as Brandon Vu won by a 13-8 decision over Lewis Channing as the Gators tied the match at 6-6.  Giron gave the Gators a 12-6 lead with a win by forfeit at 133.  The Mavericks tied the match at 12-12 when Daniel Salazar won by fall (6:25) over Thomas Turcol.
 
Furtado then won by a 7-5 decision at 149 over Colorado Mesa's Jace Abbott as the Gators took a 15-12 lead.  The Mavericks (7-2) tied the match at 15-15 with an 11-4 decision at 157 by Jason Buhr over SF State's Tavis Ino.  They increased their lead to 21-15 with back to back 2-1 and 2-0 decisions at 165 and 174 by Nick Swanson and Randy Boerner over the Gators' Kuahine and Marshall.
 
In the final match of the day, Zack Slotten won by 5-3 decision at 184 over the Gators' Fuentes to give the Mavericks the dual 23-14. 
 
The Gators will return home tomorrow morning for the final time of the 2015-16 regular season as they will host the 40th Annual California Collegiate Open at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza beginning at 9am. 
 
Their final dual of the 2015-16 season will be on Thursday, February 11 at 7pm, when they travel to Atherton, Calif., for a non-conference dual with Menlo College at the Haynes-Prim Pavilion.  The Oaks are currently ranked 10th in the nation in NAIA.
