@SFState_SOFT Returns To Action Host No. 3 Humboldt State

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State softball team returns to action this Friday, when they host CCAA foe Humboldt State for a four game CCAA series starting at 1:00 p.m. at the SF State softball field.  Live stats will be provided for all four contests between the Gators and No. 3 ranked Lumberjacks. Saturday will be senior day for the Gators.
 
SF State enters this week on a cold streak.  After winning eight in a row to end March, the Gators have gone 4-8 in April and have lost three in a row.  Last weekend the Gators took game one of the series against UC San Diego before the Tritons took the series winning three straight.
 
The Gators are currently 23-20 overall and 17-13 in the CCAA which has them sitting in fifth place, one spot out of the mix for the CCAA Tournament at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton, Calif.  As a team, SF State is hitting .272 which is ninth in the CCAA, however their pitching staff boasts a staff ERA of 2.88 which is fifth in the conference.
 
Swinging a hot bat for the Gators right now is junior second baseman Kayli Shaw.  Shaw is hitting .448 since the calendar flipped to April.  During that time she has gone 13-for-39 with two doubles and two home runs.
 
Also swinging a hot bat is sophomore catcher Angelic Terrel and senior shortstop Jennifer Lewis.  Terrel hit .364 last weekend, going 4-for-11 with a home run and five runs batted in against the Tritons.  While Lewis is top on the team with 44 hits, including eight doubles which is tied for the team lead.
 
In the circle the Gators pitching staff is led by junior Megan Clark.  Clark is 11-8 with a 2.32 ERA.  Last weekend she went 1-2 with a 2.80 ERA.  In four appearances she held the Tritons to a .232 average, limiting UCSD to 16 hits in 20.0 innings pitched.  In game one of the series, Clark threw a two-hit complete game shutout, her 12th complete game of the season.
 
The Lumberjacks enter this week ranked No. 3 in the nation according the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.  Humboldt State is 36-3-1 overall and has won 11 in a row.  In the CCAA they are 25-2 sitting in the top spot in the CCAA Standings.  They host Sonoma State on Monday and Tuesday for a four game series.
 
As a team, the Jacks are hitting .303 which is fourth in the CCAA.  They lead the conference with a .450 slugging percentage and have clubbed 32 home runs which is second in the conference.  In the circle they boast a staff ERA of 1.37 which is tops in the CCAA, they have held opponents to a .216 batting average which is second in the conference.
 
Friday and Saturday's double header will feature live stats for all four games.  Saturday will be senior day for the Gators, there will be a pre-game ceremony at 10:45 out in left field for the Gators four seniors Marisa Andrade, Chelsea Brent, Jennifer Lewis, and Jenny Obbema.
