@SFState_SOFT To Host Six Crucial Home Games

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State softball team begins the crucial portion of its schedule this week, playing host to six CCAA conference games this week starting with rival Sonoma State for a double header on Wednesday.  The Gators will wrap up the week playing a four-game series against UC San Diego starting Friday at the SF State softball field. 
 
SF State enters this week's slate of games with an overall record of 22-15, in the CCAA they are 16-8 which has them sitting second in the conference standings.  The 22 wins has the Gators eclipsing the 20-win plateau for the first time since the 2013 season.  Last week, the Gators went 3-3 in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Stanislaus State.
 
As a team, the Gators are hitting .277 which is ninth in the CCAA, they are averaging 4.24 runs per game.  In the circle, SF State sports a staff ERA of 2.76 which is fourth in the conference and 80th in the nation.  Defensively the Gators boast a fielding percentage of .961, and are third in the nation averaging 0.59 double players per game. 
 
Swinging a hot bat for the Gators is Gabby Reta, she leads the team with a .404 average.  Last weekend at the TOC she hit .438 going 7-for-16 with four RBI's.  Jennifer Lewis is also on fire for SF State, the last two weeks has seen her average skyrocket to .298.  She is tops on the team with 37 hits.  
 
In the circle the Gators three-woman rotation of Megan Clark, Jenny Obbema and Lindsey Cassidy are all having career years.  Clark leads the Gators staff with 10 wins and a 2.21 ERA, both are in the top-10 in the CCAA. Obbema is fresh off a weekend in which she posted a 2.15 ERA and wrapped up the TOC throwing a three-hit complete game shutout.  Cassidy also earned a win in the TOC, defeating Concordia (Ore.), she has already career-highs in innings pitched and starts.
 
Sonoma State enters Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 22-14, they are 14-9 in the CCAA.  Last weekend they went 5-1 at the Tournament of Champions, falling 6-5 in the finale to Holy Names.   As a team, they are hitting .290 and averaging 4.36 runs per game.  Leading the team in hitting is freshman outfielder Alee Balanon who is hitting .410.  In the circle, the Seawolves boast a staff ERA of 2.06 and are holding their opponents to a .243 batting average. Leading the team in wins and ERA is senior pitcher Amanda Llerena who is 14-7 with a 1.39 ERA.
 
UC San Diego enters this weekend's series with a 25-15 mark, in the CCAA they are 15-11 and on the road they are 5-6.  Last weekend they went 4-2 at the Tournament of Champions losing on Friday twice before going 4-0 the rest of the weekend. 
 
As a team, the Tritons are hitting .295 and averaging 4.93 runs per contest.  Leading the team is Kelsi Maday who is hitting .388, her 47 hits is tops on the team, she also has nine doubles and five home runs.  In the circle UCSD has a 3.21 ERA, their opponents are hitting .280 against them.  Leading the team is Lexi Edwards who is 11-5 with a 1.89 ERA.
