Halpert’s Big Night Not Enough As @SFState_WVB Falls To Otters

SEASIDE, Calif. – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team made the short trip down to the Otter Sports Complex for its first road contest of CCAA play and things did not go their way.  A big night from outside hitter Haley Halpert would not be enough to overcome the Otters who defeated the Gators in straight-sets winning 17-25, 13-25, 15-25.

Halpert was the only Gator to record double figures in kills, she finished the night with 10 kills on 30 swings with three errors for a .233 attack percentage.  SF State (1-8/0-2 CCAA) hit .033 as a team, recording 21 attack errors.

Christine Johnson finished second on the team with five kills, followed by Danielle Ryan's three.  Linda Aerne tallied 20 assists on the night.

Cal State Monterey Bay (6-4/1-2 CCAA) hit .322 as a team and had two players in double figures in kills. Maddy Underwood recorded a match-high 14 kills, while Enela Visesio hit .429 recording 13 kills.

In the opening set the Gators struggled to keep the ball in play, SF State hitting nine attack errors.  SF State hit .033 in the frame but did record an evening best 10 kills in the frame.  After the first set, the Gators recorded just 14 more kills while hitting 12 errors.

SF State will return to action tomorrow when they travel to Hayward, Calif. to take on Bay Area rival Cal State East Bay at Pioneer Gymnasium.  The Gators are currently riding a four-match winning streak over the Pioneers.
