SAN FRANCISCO — On Saturday, April 29, former San Francisco State wrestlers gathered on campus to celebrate the 50th anniversary of SF State's first championship wrestling team, the 1967 Far Western Conference Champions.



Wrestlers, as well family members, shared the valuable life lessons that they learned and friendships that they made from being a member of SF State's wrestling team. In attendance were legendary coach and SF State Hall of Famer Allen Abraham; current coach and SF State Hall of Famer Lars Jensen; team captain Bill Grant; team members Kermit Bankson, Bill Brand, Andy Foley, Jim Goddard, Monty Muller, Terry Queenan; Joanne Anderson, former wife of Storm Goranson (decreased); and Lynn Northrup, wife of Ben Northrup (deceased).

That team set the tone for the program for years to come, eventually culminating in an NCAA Division II Championship thirty years later in 1997.
