CLEVELAND — A total of 38 San Francisco State student-athletes have received the 2018-19 Academic Achievement Award from the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA), the organization announced on Monday. The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 12th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.
With 13 more honorees from a year ago, SF State is one of 185 institutions from across the nation and one of nine California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schools to earn the award, with 11,660 total student-athletes being recognized.
The D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards honor the classroom accomplishments of Division II student-athletes across the nation. In order to be eligible, an institution's athletics director must be a current member of the D2 ADA. To earn the award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher; be an active member of an intercollegiate team during his or her last academic year; and have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work.
