BSB | French, Johnson Add ABCA/Rawlings West Region Honors

| By:
SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco State baseball players Justin Johnson and Jacob French have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-West Region Team. Johnson was named to the First Team while French was named to the Second Team.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.

This is the third All-Region team that Johnson has been named to after earning D2CCA All-West Region First Team honors and garnering NCBWA All-West Region Honorable Mention. This is the second regional honor for French, who also garnered NCBWA All-West Region Honorable Mention

The duo powered the Gators offense all season long, with both being named to the All-CCAA Second Team and to the CCAA All-Tournament Team en route to the program's first NCAA postseason appearance since 1995.

Johnson had one of the best single seasons in program history. The Gators' corner infielder finished the 2024 campaign slashing .374/.429/.660 and broke the program single season RBI record with 72. The Sacramento, California native ranks among the Top 20 in NCAA Division II in hits, RBI, and total bases. His 88 hits are 16h in the nation and one shy of the program record. He led the Gators in batting average (.374), slugging (.660), hits (88), RBI (72), runs (55), total bases (155), and home runs (15). Johnson started the season with a two-homer game and had a four-homer game in the final series of the regular season, and his 15 home runs are the second most by a Gator in a single season. His 20 doubles are tied for third-most in a single season.

French was the lone freshman named to the ABCA West Region Team. The CCAA Freshman of the Year made a huge impact in his first season in the purple and gold. The Benicia, California native slashed .347/.428/.561 with 83 hits, 19 doubles, 17 walks, four triples, eight home runs, 54 runs and 47 RBI. A two-way athlete, French spent most of his time at second base but toed the rubber 12 times. He posted a 3-1 record with a 6.23 ERA and 13 strikeouts. His 239 at-bats are a new single-season program record.

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-America teams will be announced on Friday, May 31. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.
