San Francisco, Calif.--- In a game that saw rain throughout its entirety, the visiting Cal Poly Pomona Broncos (5-5-2, 5-3-2 CCAA) and the SF State Gators' men's soccer team play to a scoreless tie this afternoon in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) game at Cox Stadium.
“We played well in the conditions that were given us today by the rain,” said SF State Assistant Coach Kelly Coffey. “Although we would have liked to come out with a win, a tie was good considering the weather,” added Coffey.
Cal Poly Pomona out shot the Gators 11-8 including 8-5 in the first half.
Israel Cisneros (Jr, Watsonville, CA/Hartnell College) recorded three saves in goal in the first half for SF State while
Ezra Mendoza (Sr, Concord, CA/Diablo Valley College) had one save in the second half. Brian Catalano had three saves in goal for the Broncos.
The Gators (7-6-2, 4-4-1 CCAA) will return to the field this Sunday for their final home game of the 2007 season. SF State will face CSU San Bernardino at 11:30am for its Senior Day at Skyline College in San Bruno, California. Before the game, the Gators will recognize both teams' seniors including their six.
