Gators Shutout By Lumberjacks
Arcata, Calif.--- For the second straight Friday afternoon, the SF State men's soccer played a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in a rain storm this time the Gators lost 2-0 in Arcata, Calif., to the Humboldt State University Lumberjacks (7-10-1, 3-8-1 CCAA). With the loss, SF State falls to 7-8-2 overall and 4-6-1 in the CCAA. 
            Roland Demombynes put the Lumberjacks on the board first at the 21:54 mark of the first half when he knocked off his shot off the post off a ball from Eric Webster. Humboldt State doubled its advantage in the 40th minute as Elliot Richards scored off a ball from Scott Mariani. 
            The Lumberjacks out shot SF State 17-10 including 11-2 in the second half. Eric Shield (Jr, GK, Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake HS) recorded five saves in goal for the Gators including four in the second half. Ryan Romero had five saves in goal for Humboldt State.
            SF State, who still has CCAA Tournament hopes, will continue its road trip this Sunday, Oct. 21, in Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 3pm CCAA match with the 15th ranked Sonoma State University Seawolves. Sonoma State won its 13 straight game this afternoon in a 4-2 win over CSU Monterey Bay. 
The Gators are currently in third place in the CCAA North Division, one point behind second place CSU Monterey Bay and four points behind Cal Poly Pomona (who currently holds the fourth spot in the CCAA Tournament). The Broncos host Cal State LA early this evening.
