Seaside, Calif.--- SF State's men's soccer team lost a 2-1 nail biter in overtime to the CSU Monterey Bay Otters (9-7-2, 6-5-2 CCAA) this afternoon in Seaside, California. With the loss, the Gators fall to 7-10-2 overall and 4-8-1 in the CCAA.
The game remained scoreless until the 73:12 mark, when Kyle Millerick connected on a free kick from Andy Breault to give the Otters a 1-0 lead. With less than ten minutes left in the game, SF State's senior forward
Casey Poston (Sacramento, Calif/Mesa College) connected on a ball from
Spencer Schwandt (So, M, Napa, Calif/Vintage HS) to tie the game at 1-1. This was
Poston's third goal of the season.
The score remained 1-1 until the 96:11 mark of the first overtime period as Andrew Burkhammer scored the golden goal to give the Otters the 2-1 CCAA victory.
The Otters out shot the Gators 19-14 for the game.
Brendan Baca had seven saves in goal for CSU Monterey Bay while the Gators'
Ezra Mendoza (Sr, Concord, Calif/Diablo Valley College) recorded five in goal for SF State.
The Gators will wrap up its 2007 season this Friday in Los Angeles, Calif., for a 4:30pm CCAA match with the Cal State LA Golden Eagles.
