Men's Soccer Falls in Season Finale

Spencer Schwandt Recorded An Assist in the Gators' Season Finale

Los Angeles, Calif.--- SF State's men's soccer team lost 2-1 in their 2007 regular season finale this evening to the Cal State LA Golden Eagles (10-5-3, 8-3-1 CCAA) in Los Angeles, California.  With the loss, SF State finishes the season at 7-11-2 overall and 4-9-1 in the CCAA.

            John Massaquoi connected on a cross from Spencer Tripp and David Mora to give the Golden Eagles an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.  Then three minutes later, the Gators tied it at 1-1 when senior Matt Pedersen (Dublin, CA/Dublin HS) connected off a corner kick and ball from Spencer Schwandt (So, F/M, Napa, CA/Vintage HS) and Benno Nagel (Sr, D, Oakland, CA/Bishop O'Dowd HS).

            Jason Swope connected on a cross from AJ Matthews for the game-winner for Cal State LA in the 28th minute. 

            Ezra Mendoza (Sr, GK, Concord, CA/Diablo Valley College) recorded four saves in goal for the Gators while Noe David had five in goal for Cal State LA, who with the win clinches the No. 3 seed in next weekend's CCAA Tournament in Carson, Calif.
