Chico State Score Three Unanswered Goals To Key Win Over SF State

SF State Falls to Chico State
San Francisco, Calif.--- SF State's men's soccer team lost 3-1 to the visiting Chico State Wildcats this afternoon in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) game at SF State's Cox Stadium. With the win, Chico State improved to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the CCAA while SF State falls to 7-6-1 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA.
            Casey Poston (Sr, M/F, Sacramento, Calif/Mesa College) put the Gators on the board first when he connected on a ball from Benno Nagel (Sr, D, Oakland, Calif/Bishop O'Dowd HS) at the 1:19 mark of the first half. 
            AJ Carboneau tied the game at 1-1 for the Wildcats off a ball from Ian Hilgart in the 15th minute. Carboneau gave Chico State a 2-1 lead as he scored on a ball from Scott Lucky in the 31st minute of the first half. The Wildcats scored their third unanswered goal of the first half at the 39th minute as Zac Crim connected on a ball from Garrett McCall to give Chico State a 3-1 lead.
            SF State out shot the Wildcats 22-19 including 15-11 in the second half while recording two more shot on goal attempts than Chico State (10-8).
            Eric Shield (Jr, GK, Thousand Oaks, Calif/Westlake HS) recorded five saves in goal for the Gators in the second half while Brian Linne had nine saves in goal for the Wildcats. 
            The Gators will look to get back on the winning track as they continue their season long home stand this Friday, October 12th for a 12:30pm CCAA game with Cal Poly Pomona.
