San Francisco, Calif.--- In a tight called men's soccer match, it was the SF State Gators pulling out a 1-0 victory over the visiting CSU Monterey Bay Otters (1-7-4, 1-5-3 CCAA) this afternoon in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match at SF State's Cox Stadium.
“Give CSU Monterey Bay credit,” said SF State Head Men's Soccer Coach Joe Hunter. “We match well with them,” added Hunter. “Both teams know what each other are doing and we found a way to win.” “Our guys played well even though we were tired from a tough weekend.”
The game was scoreless until less than three minutes left in the first half when
Dylan Glass (Rancho Cucamonga, California, Alta Loma)connected on a pass from
Antonio Ugarte (Danville, Calforna, San Ramon Valley ) in what proved to be the game-winner. This was
Glass' fourth goal of the season.
SF State out shot the Otters 14-6 including 9-4 in the first half while
Israel Cisneros (Watsonville, California, Hartnell College) recorded three saves en route to his third shutout of the season. Brenden Baca recorded four saves in goal for CSU Monterey Bay.
The Gator will return home this Friday, October 10 at 12:30pm for a non-conference match with the Cougars of CSU San Marcos.
