Josh Kuluris and His Gators' Teammates Will Begin A Four-Game Home Stand This Friday, Oct. 9th at 12:30pm against Cal Poly Pomona
Chico, Calif.--- For their second consecutive game, the SF State played to a double overtime tie with its opponent. This time, the Gators played to a 1-1 double overtime with the Chico State Wildcats (7-3-3, 4-2-3 CCAA) this afternoon at the Wildcats' University Stadium in Chico. With the tie, the Gators earned two points on their weekend and are now 5-4-3 overall and 2-3-3 in the CCAA.
“This was a well earned tie,” said SF State Head Coach Joe hunter. “Even though the stats say that Chico State out-shot us, it was an evenly played match,” added Hunter. “The guys showed some character this weekend and on Tuesday we need to get back to work as we finish the season with seven of our last eight games at home.”
The Gators' Arnol Arceta (Bay Point, California, Mt. Diablo ) recorded the game's first shot on goal attempt as Michael Keohane recorded one of his three saves for the afternoon at the 15:30 mark. The next shot on goal attempt came three minutes into the second half, when Chico State's Keohane stopped Spencer Schwandt (Napa, California, Viintage)shot. The Wildcats' Kyle Crain's attempt to give Chico State a 1-0 lead hit the crossbar in the 56th minute. Then five minutes later, Ryan Struckmeyer had his attempt stopped by Eric Scolman (Oceanside, California, Oceanside)(who had two saves on the day).
For the second straight game, Arnol Arceta gave the Gators' the 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute as his free kick went over the Chico State wall from 20-yards out for his fourth goal of the season and third in two games. But the Gators' lead did not hold, because Chico State's Struckmeyer connected on a cross from Evan Armstrong less than a minute later to tie the game at 1-1.

With five minutes left, Crain's attempt sailed high for Chico State. Josh Kuluris (Mission Viejo, California, Mission Viejo) had a chance to give the Gators the win, but his header shot was blocked with less than three minutes left in regulation. The game went into overtime, where 54 seconds into the extra-period Keohane stopped the Gators' Sasha Chalak's attempt for the golden goal. Scolman stopped the Wildcats' Armstrong's attempt to be hero in the 95th minute.
In the second overtime period, Chico State saw its two chances in the first minute of the sail wide and the other one was blocked.  The Gators' Arceta attempt was blocked in the 104th minute with the final attempt coming from the Wildcats' Zach Bradford sailing wide in the 105th minute.
Chico State out-shot the Gators' 20-8, but SF State recorded more shot on goal attempts (4-3). Each team had five corner kicks.
