No. 16 Chico State Rallies From Behind To Defeat Gators in Extra Innings

Danny Graybill Pitched 5.1 innings of Relief in the Gators' 6-3 Extra-Inning Loss to the No. 16 Wildcats
San Francisco, Calif.--- SF State's baseball team lost 6-3 in 12 innings to the No. 16 Chico State Wildcats (12-9, 8-6 CCAA) after taking a 3-0 lead going into the final four innings of the game. The loss spoiled the pitching outing of the Gator duo of starter Spencer Kreisberg (Tigard, Oregon, Tigard)and reliever Danny Graybill (Santa Barbara, California, Santa Barbara City College). The two combined to strikeout five batters while giving up 11 hits, six runs (five earned) and four walks. 
Patrick Haugen (Cayucos, California, Cuesta College) gave the Gators a 1-0 lead with a RBI single in the second inning. SF State increased its lead to 3-0 on a two-run single by Jeff McCall (Santa Rosa, California, Santa Rosa Junior College) in the fifth inning. Chico State scored its first run in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Deven Braden, while Adam Arakawa's RBI single in the seventh put the Wildcats within one run.

The Wildcats tied the game in their half of the ninth inning with two unearned runs. Jordan Larson reached on an error to start the frame and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Kyle Eveland. He then advanced to third on a groundout and scored when pinch hitter Bret Ringer reached on an error to tie the game at 3-3. 
The game remained tied at 3-3 until the Wildcat 12th. Kevin Seaver opened up the inning with a lead-off single and stole second. He then advanced to third on a single by Braden and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Robert Mills. Chico State added two more insurance runs later in the inning to take a 6-3 going into the bottom of the twelfth.
SF State did not give up as the Gators' Sean Proni (San Francisco, College of Marin)opened up the reaching on a hit batter. He advanced to third on a one-out double by Zack Anderson. Then Greg Kline (Las Vegas, Nevada, San Joaquin Delta College)loaded the bases with one out and the go-ahead run up to bat. Andrew Pluta came on in relief of Ian Waldron to retire the final two Gator batters and record his second save of the season.
Ian Waldron (2-1) picked up the win in relief for Chico State, pitching 5.1 innings of scoreless relief while striking out 10 and walking just one. He gave up four hits in relief of Jordan Lindebaum. The Wildcats had 12 hits of which three came off the bat of Kyle Eveland and two each by Arakawa, Seaver, and Braden.
Danny Graybill (0-1) picked up the loss in relief of Spencer Kreisberg, who pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and two runs while striking out one and walking two. Graybill pitched 5.1 innings of relief, giving up four hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out four and walking two. SF State (5-14, 1-12 CCAA) had 10 hits with Haugen and McCall leading the way with two hits apiece.
The two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow morning for an 11am scheduled doubleheader at Maloney Field.
