No. 29 Seawolves Win Series Finale 7-1 Over SF State

Jeff McCall Had Two of the Gators' 5 Hits At No. 29 Sonoma State
Rohnert Park, Calif.--- The No. 29 Sonoma State Seawolves won the series finale from the visiting SF State Gators 7-1 this afternoon at Seawolf Diamond in Rohnert Park, California, to improve to 19-6 overall and 12-6 in the CCAA. SF State (6-20, 2-18 CCAA) will return home this Tuesday, March 24 at 2pm for a non-conference game at Maloney Field against the University of Hawai'i-Hilo Vulcans.
            For the fourth straight game, it was the big inning that hurt the Gators. Sonoma State took a 3-0 lead after five innings with a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning. SF State cut into the Seawolves' lead when Keith Garcia (Ventura, Oxnard College) scored after reaching base on a one-out double to right center. He scored after advancing to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Matt Memeo (Cottonwood, California, Shasta College)
            The Seawolves broke the game open when they scored four runs on six hits in their half of the sixth inning. Gary Moran (4-1) picked up the win for Sonoma State pitching five scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out nine. Three Seawolf relievers pitched the final four innings, giving up three hits and one run. Leo Avila led the Seawolves' hitters with three hits including two doubles.
            Patrick Haugen (Cayucos, California, Cuesta College) (3-4) recorded the loss for the Gators while striking out six and walking three in 5.2 innings of work. Danny Graybill (Santa Barbara, California, Santa Barbara City College)pitched 1.1 scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out three. Eric Keithley (Santa Rosa , Santa Rosa JC) pitched one scoreless inning, striking out two and walking two. Jeff McCall (Santa Rosa, California, Santa Rosa Junior College) had two of the Gators' five hits.
