Glass Scores Twice in Gators' Season Opening 4-0 Win

Dylan Glass Keyed The Gators' 4-0 Win With Two Second Half Goals
Lacey, Wash.--- SF State senior Dylan Glass scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half to key the Gators' 4-0 season opening win at Saint Martin's Saints (0-1) this afternoon in Lacey, Washington. Freshman Mike McNeill (Oakdale, California, Oakdale HS) recorded five saves en route to his first shutout of his collegiate career. The Gators will continue their track in the Great Northwest with a game at Seattle Pacific this Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm.
“The first 15 minutes of the match was pick and choose for both teams as were seeing what we were going against,” said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. “From then we dominated the match as we made some adjustments at halftime and came out with four goals in the second half,” added Hunter. “It was a very good effort for the Gators this afternoon as were able to play everybody.”
The first half was evenly played as the Gators had five shots compared Saint Martin's four. All four of the Saints' shots were shots on goal that were saved by McNeill as SF State had two shots on goal.
The Gators came out strong in the second keyed by senior Dylan Glass (Rancho Cucamonga, California, Alta Loma) two early goals in the half. The first one came in the 44th minute off a pass from defender Wes Whitt (Alpine, California, Cathedral Catholic) to give SF State the 1-0 lead. Glass then connected five minutes later on a cross from Spencer Schwandt (Napa, California, Viintage) to double the visitors' lead to two.
Jorge Calderon, Jr. (Vista, California, Palomar College) unassisted goal in the 62nd minute sealed the win for the Gators on a chip shot over the Saints' goalkeeper. Then 13 minutes later, Charles Conway (Albuquerque, New Mexico, University of New Mexico) gave the Gators a 4-0 lead off a deflection of the Saints' goalkeeper.
