No. 4 Cal State LA Blanks Gators, 2-0

Arnol Arceta Had One of the Gators' 7 Shot Attempts
SAN FRANCISCO.---No. 4 Cal State LA Golden Eagles improved to 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the CCAA with a 2-0 road victory over the SF State this afternoon at Cox Stadium in San Francisco. With the loss, the Gators fall to 4-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the CCAA.
            The Golden Eagles controlled most of the first half as they out-shot SF State 11-2 including 2-0 on shot on goal attempts. Cal State LA scored the game's first goal in the 23rd minute on an own goal. 
            The score remained 1-0 Cal State LA going into the half. SF State came out and had a chance to tie on a header from Spencer Schwandt (Napa, California, Viintage) off a free kick from Dylan Glass (Rancho Cucamonga, California, Alta Loma), but the Golden Eagles' Tobias Hummel recorded one of his four saves of the day in the 52nd minute. 
            The Gators had another one more chance to tie the game at one when Roberto Escobar (San Francisco, California, Mission HS)shot came up short in the 76th minute. Two minutes later, the Golden Eagles increased their lead to 2-0 as Federico Cino connected on a ball from Jason Swope from 10 yards out to seal the win for Cal State LA.
            Mike McNeill (Oakdale, California, Oakdale HS) recorded three saves in goal for the Gators, while SF State was out shot by the Golden Eagles 17-7.
            SF State will go on the road now for a four-game road trip starting with a game this Friday, September 25th at 4pm in Rohnert Park against the No. 10 Sonoma State Seawolves.
