TURLOCK – SF State men's soccer team lost 3-0 to the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors this afternoon in a CCAA North Division game in Turlock. Cal State Stanislaus improves to 9-4-3 overall and 8-4-2 in the CCAA while the Gators fall to 7-8-1 overall and 5-8-1 in the CCAA.
Luis Guzman put the Warriors on the board first as he connected on a pass from Manny
Avila in give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the 11:18 mark of the first half. The Warriors doubled their lead, one minute into the second half when Andres Zamora connected on a pass from Jio Santana and Nolan Holdridge.
SF State had a chance to cut into the Warrior lead ten minutes after that score, but
Joseph Flores (Clovis, California, Clovis HS)attempt was stopped by Bill Hambelton.
The Gators had three other chances early sail high or be blocked in the next 12 minutes as the Warriors continued on to hold the 2-0 lead. Victor Regalado sealed the win for Cal State Stanislaus in the 77th minute as he sscored off a ball from Avila and Santana to make the final 3-0 Warriors.
Cal State Stanislaus outshot the Gators 11-8, but SF State recorded more shots in the second half 6-3.
Mike McNeill (Oakdale, California, Oakdale HS)had 5 saves in goal for the visitors while Hambelton just had one save for the Warriors.
SF State will return home for their final two games of the regular season this weekend. The Gators will host Sonoma State this Friday at 12:30pm and Humboldt State this Sunday at 11:30am. Prior to Sunday's game, the Gators will recognize their four seniors in a pre-game ceremony in
