SAN FRANCISCO--- SF State baseball lost its non-conference game to Sonoma State this afternoon, 13-3 to the visiting Seawolves at Maloney Field.
Spencer Kreisberg (Tigard, Oregon, Los Medanos College) took the loss for the Gators in the start while
Keith Garcia (Ventura, California, Oxnard College) had two hits and
Ryan Williams (Woodland, California, Yuba College) had a two-run home run to lead the way for the Gators.
Kyle Jones' two-run home run in the top of the first inning gave the Seawolves (7-6) a 2-0 lead. SF State cut the Sonoma State lead in half, when Drew Andersen stole home in the Gator half of the first inning.
The score remained 2-1 Sonoma State until the Seawolf third, when the visitors scored four runs on three hits with Max Shupe's two-run double keying the four-run inning. The Seawolves added another run in the fourth to give them a 7-1 lead.
Ryan Williams hit his two-run home run (team leading fourth of the season) in the Gator half of the fourth to cut the Seawolf lead to 7-3. Sonoma State broke the game open with three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two more in the eighth inning to take the 13-3 non-conference win.
Mark Lincoln (1-0) picked up the win for Sonoma State, pitching two innings, giving up two hits and one run while striking out two and walking one. Randy Wells was 3-for-5 for the Seawolves while scoring three runs and Jones, Wells, and Ryan Stevens each hit home runs for Sonoma State.
Kreisberg (0-3) took the loss for SF State, pitching one inning, giving up two hits and two runs. Garcia was 2-for-2 for the Gators while Williams drove in two of SF State's three runs.
The Gators (6-8) will be off until next weekend, when they host Cal State LA in a four-game conference series at Maloney Field beginning with Friday, March 5 for a single game starting at 2pm.
