Brooks Pitches 6-Hit Complete Game Shutout in Coyotes' 7-0 Series Opening Victory

Nick Bowerman Was 2-For-4 This Afternoon For SF State
SAN BERNARDINO--- Cal State San Bernardino's Aaron Brooks threw a six-hit complete game shutout in the Coyotes' 7-0 victory over the visiting SF State Gators this afternoon at Fiscalini Field in San Bernardino. With the win, the Coyotes take the series opener and also improve to 22-13 overall and 21-21 in the CCAA. The two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow at noon for a conference doubleheader at Fiscalini Field.
 
The Coyotes scored all the runs that Brooks (6-1) needed with a two-run second inning on a two-run home run by James Kono. They added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth inning and scored three more in the sixth to take the 7-0 win.
 
Brooks pitched 9 innings, gave up six hits and struck out six while walking three to earn his sixth victory of the season. 
 
Brent Planck and Kono each had three hits for the Coyotes while Kono also had drove in three runs.
 
Nick Bowerman (Oakley, California, Mount Mercy College) had two of the Gators' (19-24, 12-17 CCAA) six hits. Spencer Kreisberg (Tigard, Oregon, Los Medanos College)(2-6) took the loss, pitching 6.2 innings, giving up 11 hits and 7 runs (6 earned) while striking out 7 and walking two.
