Josh Kuluris Scored His First Goal of the Season off an Assist from Kevin Thomas
SAN FRANCISCO – In both team's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener, it was the visiting Cal State Stanislaus Warriors defeating the SF State Gators 3-1 this afternoon at SF State's Cox Stadium. Luis Guzman scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 9th minute off a corner kick from Arturo Pulido to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

“We have to come out ready to play, we had three mental errors today that cost us all three goals,” said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. “This is life in the fast lane and hopefully we will learn from our mistakes.”

The Warriors (2-0-1, 1-0 CCAA) took the early lead in the ninth minute as Guzman's flicked the corner kick from Pulido past the Gators' goalkeeper for the first goal of the game. SF State had a couple of chances to tie the game in the first half, but could not put the ball in the net including Tony Terreazas' shot in the 28th minute that was saved by Javier Rosales.

The game remained 1-0 Cal State Stanislaus until the 70th minute when Jose Velasquez capitalized on his own missed shot for his first goal of the season and to increase the visitors' lead to 2-0.
Then three minutes later Andrew Zamora secured the win for the Warriors when he connected on a penalty kick.

SF State did not give up as Josh Kuluris (Mission Viejo, California, Mission Viejo)header got past the Warriors goalkeeper off an assist fromKevin Thomas (Livermore, California, Granada HS) to make it 3-1, but that is as close as the Gators (2-1, 0-1 CCAA) could not get as the Warriors took the 3-1 victory.

Javier Rosales had two saves in goal for the Warriors who out-shot the Gators 13-12 including 8-5 in the second half.
