SAN FRANCISCO--- With less than a minute to go in regulation, SF State's
Charles Conway (Albuquerque, New Mexico, University of New Mexico) connected on a header off a direct throw-in from
Malcolm Linton (Pasadena, California, Pasadena City College) to give the Gators a 1-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers. This was Conway's first goal of the season and Linton's team high third assist.
“A win is a win,” said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. “Kudos to Cal State East Bay, as they are working hard and improving with each and every game,” added Hunter. “Our guys needed that win today and they deserved it as they outshot the Pioneers 25-1.”
The Gators outshot the Pioneers (2-6, 1-4 CCAA) 25-1 including 15-0 in the first half to key their victory. SF State controlled the whole game as the Gators allowed their visitors just one shot on goal by Alex Dickerson late in the game which was stopped by the Gators'

SF State (3-3-1, 1-3-1 CCAA) had numerous chances to put the ball in the net, but registered just five shots on goal which the Pioneers' Bryce Boookhamer stopped four of them.
Seven of the Gators' shot attempts came from
Sasha Chalak (Concord, California, Acalanes) while
Edgar Villagrana (Pittsburg, California, Pittsburg)had four and four SF State players had two attempts each in
Josh Kuluris (Mission Viejo, California, Mission Viejo),
Joseph Flores (Clovis, California, Clovis HS),
Antonio Ugarte (Danville, Calforna, San Ramon Valley ), Jorge Calderon, Jr. and Conway.
McNeill just one save in goal for the Gators, who will return home on Sunday at 11:30am when they host UC San Diego in another conference match-up. The Tritons defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 1-0 in Seaside earlier today.
