UC San Diego Blanks Gators, 2-0

Adam Nowak Had Two Shot On Goal Attempts in the Gators' 2-0 Loss to UCSD
SAN FRANCISCO--- In a California Collegiate Athletic Association game at SF State's Cox Stadium, it was the visiting UC San Diego Tritons blanking the Gators of SF State 2-0. The Tritons (2-4-2, 2-3-1 CCAA) scored once each half to secure the victory with Jesse Brennan recording six saves en route to the shutout.

“When you don't show up, you are not going to win,” said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. “You cannot just have three players show up playing well to win the game,” added Hunter. “There is no simple solution, we just need to come out this week and work hard.”

UC San Diego outshot the Gators (3-4-1, 1-4-1 CCAA) 15-9 including 11-6 in the second half. SF State had more corner kicks than the Tritons 9-2 while the Gators' Michael McNeill had four saves in goal.

Three of the Gators' 15 shot attempts came off the foot of Sasha Chalak (Concord, California, Acalanes) while Adam Nowak (San Ramon, California, University of San Francisco), Joseph Flores (Clovis, California, Clovis HS), and Edgar Villagrana (Pittsburg, California, Pittsburg) each recorded two shot attempts.

Kian Malek scored the game's first goal in the 41st minute off a corner kick while Evan Walker secured the win for the Tritons scoring on a breakaway in the 52nd minute.

SF State will commence a season long five-game road trip this Friday, October 1 at 7pm in Arcata as the Gators face Humboldt State University in a CCAA game.
