SAN FRANCISCO--- In the SF State Gators' final home game of the 2011 regular season, the Gators sent their five seniors out in style with a 1-0 win over the visiting Cal State Stanislaus Warriors (8-5-1, 6-5-1 CCAA). Although it was Senior Day, it was a freshman that scored the game-winner in the 44th minute in Robert Gilbert as he connected on a missed shot by Sasha Chalak.

"It came down to focus and energy this afternoon," said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter. "We battled today and it was a great effort by our whole team." "I am really happy for the guys especially the five seniors in Saman Assadi, Andrew Chansky, Thomas Comer, Malcolm Linton and Antonio Ugarte."

Cal State Stanislaus outshot the Gators 14-7 including 8-3 in the first half and 4 to 1 in shot on goal attempts, but SF State's defense held its ground in recording fourth shutout of the season.

The Warriors controlled the first half as they recorded eight shot attempts including two shot on goal attempts.  The first one came in the 36th minute as Brandon James' attempt was stopped by the Gators' Thomas Comer.  Then 8 minutes later, Comer stopped Arturo Pulido's attempt to give the visitors the lead.

That is when Gilbert came up big for SF State (5-7-2. 4-7-1 CCAA).  The freshman from Oakdale connected on a shot on goal attempt by Sasha Chalak that hit the crossbar and Gilbert kicked it past the Warriors' goalkeeper into the net with less than 40 seconds to go in the first half.

The Gators came out firing in the second half as they recorded three shot attempts in the first four minutes with all going wide or being blocked.

SF State's defense that thwarted an attempt by the Warriors' Juan Alvarez in the 63rd that would have tied the match at 1-1.

Comer then came up big for the Gators in the 71st minute as he stopped Daniel Kuczynski's attempt to tie match.  That was one of Comer's three saves on the day en route to his first shutout in goal for the Gators this season.

The Gators held the Warriors without a shot on goal attempt in the final nine minutes as they held on for the 1-0 victory.

SF State will end its season with four straight road matches in the next two weeks beginning with a 4:30pm match this Friday, October 21 at Cal State LA.  The Gators lost 3-0 to Cal State LA on October 2 at home.
