Box Score  SAN FRANCISCO --- Saman Assadi's goal with 20 minutes left in regulation gave the SF State Gators a 2-1 victory over the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes.  With the win, the Gators snapped their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 2-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the CCAA. 
 
“This just proves if you come out focus and work hard, you are going to get the results that you want,” said SF State Head Coach Joe Hunter.  “That is a very simple formula and this afternoon we showed a blue collar effort out there in our 2-1 victory.”
 
The Coyotes came out firing in the first half as Marco Martinez's shot was stopped by the Gators' Eric Scolman in the second minute.  SF State came right back in the 10^th minute, but Antonio Ugarte's attempt was blocked by the Cal State San Bernardino defense. 
 
Two minutes later, the visitors were called for a foul in the penalty area and the Gators' Luis Mendoza took advantage of it connected on the penalty kick for his first goal as a member of the SF State Gators. 
 
Cal State San Bernardino went to tie the game in the 37^th minute, but Scolman came up with two saves stopping Jordan Rodino twice to send the Gators into the halftime with a 1-0 lead.
 
The game remained 1-0 until the 70^th minute, when Ricky Prouty assisted on Julio Ayala's goal from 20 yards out that went over Scolman's head to tie the game at 1-1. 
 
Not even a minute later, the Gators retook the lead as Saman Assadi connected on his first goal of the season off a pass from Kristian Fuentes to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
 
SF State's defense held the Coyotes to check in the final 20 minutes as the visitors had no shot on goal attempts to preserve the Gators' 2-1 victory.
 
Scolman had 5 saves in goal for SF State including four in the first half while Tanner Olinger had two saves in goal for the Coyotes. 
 
SF State outshot the Coyotes 15-12 and recorded more shots on goal, 5-3. 
 
The Gators will continue their season long home stand with a 12:30pm starting game with the Humboldt State Lumberjacks this Friday, September 23 at Cox Stadium.
