ROHNERT PARK--- SF State's women's basketball team snapped their five-game losing streak this evening as the Gators held off a second half rally by the Sonoma State Seawolves in their 51-49 road conference victory. Nicole Hicks paced the Gators with a game high 22 points while Farrah Shokoor chipped in 12 points. SF State held the Seawolves to just 30% shooting from the field while forcing 17 turnovers.
"I am proud of how we played tonight," said SF State Head Coach Joaquin Wallace. "We are a defensive team and returned back to what we are good at." "I am hopefuly we can pnlay with the same intensity at Humboldt State this Saturday."
Sonoma State (5-8, 3-6 CCAA) took a 9-7 lead on a three by Alysa Ito in the first four minutes of the first, but the Gators followed that with a 10-0 run capped by two made free throws by Hicks to give them a 17-9 lead in the next two minutes.
Sherika Miller's lay-up with two minutes left in the half gave the Gators their largest lead of the game, 33-19. The Seawolves' Aly Conway sunk two free throws to cut SF State's lead to 33-22 going into the half.
The hosts cut the Gators' lead to 45-43 on a Jaclyn Bisori lay-up with a little under seven minutes left in the game. Sonoma State opened up the second half outscoring the Gators 23-10 in the first 13 minutes of the new stanza.
SF State's Lauren Varney made lay-up increased the visitors lead to 47-43 with a little under six minutes left on the clock.
Sonoma State tied the game at 47-47 as Elizabeth Day's lay-up capped a mini 4-0 run by the Seawolves as they tied the game with 5:20 to go.

The Gators (3-11, 2-6 CCAA) will continue their five-game road trip this Saturday at 7:30pm in Arcata, Calif., for a CCAA game with Humboldt State. The Lumberjacks lost 83-79 in overtime to Cal Poly Pomona this evening at home.
