PHOENIX – The 20th-ranked San Francisco State wrestling team faced a pair of top-10 opponents during its visit to the desert on Saturday, but ultimately dropped a 27-10 decision to No. 9 Adams State, before experiencing a similar 25-10 setback at the hands of host and seventh-ranked Grand Canyon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual meet action inside Antelope Gymnasium.
 
Six different wrestlers posted victories for the Gators in the two matches, including Dylan Phillipy (15-9), who was a 14-4 winner by major decision over Adams State's No. 4 Josh Hensley in the 149-pound weight class.
 
Zach Jimenez (5-9) was also triumphant against the Grizzlies with a 6-3 decision over Darian Roberts at 184, while Anthony Gonzalez (11-8) edged Taylor Stam by a 3-1 count in the heavyweight division.
 
Against the Antelopes in the nightcap, Isaiah Jimenez (15-6) rebounded with a 13-4 win by major decision over Justin Martin at 165, while Julian Perez (14-9) dispatched Lino Estrada by a 7-3 score at 133.  Daniel Flores (17-10) then supplied SF State's final win of the night with a close 9-7 decision over Vince Hererra at 141.
 
The Gators (3-8, 0-2 RMAC) return to action on Friday, Feb. 3, when they welcome Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Baptist to The Swamp for a non-conference dual meet doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.  Prior to its showdown with CBU, SF State will recognize Trevor Franklin, Anthony Gonzalez, Arman Ostadsharif and Julian Perez in a special ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities.
 
The Gators will then play host to the 36^th annual California Collegiate Open on Saturday, starting at approximately 9 a.m.
