CHICO— The Chico State Wildcats outshot the visiting SF State Gators 22-4 to key their 3-0 CCAA victory this afternoon at the University Soccer Field in Chico, Calif.  Anthony Rodriguez had six saves in goal for the visitors.
 
Besides holding the advantage in shot attempts, the Wildcats (8-2-3, 7-1-3 CCAA) also held SF State without a shot on goal attempt as they had a 6-0- advantage in shots on goal.  Chico State also held a slim 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Wildcats came out firing early as Micah Miranda's shot was blocked by the Gator defense just 22 seconds into the match.  Seven minutes later, Jorge Cervantaes's shot sailed high for Chico State.  The hosts took the 1-0 lead in the 13^th minute as Jake Ward headed in a free kick by Octavio Guzman for his second goal of the season.
 
Chico State's Guzman had two chances in the beginning of the second half to double the lead for the Wildcats stopped by the Gators' Rodriguez. 
 
SF State (1-10-3, 0-8-3 CCAA) had a chance to tie the match at 1-1 in the 65^th minute, but Edgar Villagrana's attempt sailed high off a corner kick by the Gators. 
 
The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 73^rd minute when Luis Martinez connected on a ball from Miranda for his third goal of the season.  Chico State sealed the win when Akwafei Ajeakwa connected on a ball from Mike Janjigian to increase the Wildcats' lead to 3-0.
 
The visitors had another chance to cut into the Wildcats' lead but Kristian Fuentes' attempt hit the post in the 80^th minute.  Then 12 seconds later, Villagrana's attempt was blocked by the Wildcat defense.  Fuentes had another attempt sail high in the 81^st minute as the match ended in a Chico State 3-0 win.
 
The Gators will return home this Friday, October 19 as they begin a season-ending four-match home stand. SF State's first match of the home stand will be against Cal St. Monterey Bay beginning at 12:30pm at Cox Stadium on the campus of SF State.
