SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gators' volleyball team will face #20 Grand Canyon this Thursday, Nov. 29 at 2:30pm HST in the First Round of the NCAA Division II West Regionals on the campus of BYU-Hawai'i in Laie, Hawai'i. This will be the Gators' second appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament in the last four years and third in school history. They finished with a 21-8 overall record and a 16-6 record in the CCAA. SF State tied for second place with Sonoma State in the CCAA, the Gators' highest finish ever in the CCAA.
If the Gators defeat Grand Canyon on Thursday, they will face either CSU San Bernardino or Central Washington in the semi-finals on Friday evening at 5pm HST. The other two quarterfinals matches will fave Sonoma State facing Western Washington and BYU-Hawai'i facing UC San Diego. The championship match is set for this Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7pm HST.
Last week, four Gators received All-CCAA honors in
Iris Tolenada,
Meagan Wright,
Megan Johnson and
Kelly Ostello. Both Tolenada and Wright were named to the First Team while Johnson and Ostello and were Second Team selections. Tolenada was named the league's MVP while Wright was the Freshman of the Year.
