Mark Lindsay hit the first pitch he saw from Cal State L.A.'s Cedar Morgan to drive in the tying run and the game-winning run in SF State Gators' 8-7 come from behind victory. SF State improves to 6-7 overall and 5-4 in the CCAA with the win.
Cal State L.A. (10-5, 6-3 CCAA) took a 1-0 lead as Jesus Cuevas scored the game's first run in the top of the sixth.
The Gators scored three runs in their half of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead keyed by a two-run double by freshman
Danny Souza. Then
Thomas Wood drove in Souza on a sacrifice fly after the Gator shortstop advanced to third on a sacrifice fly.
The game remained 3-1 Gators until the top the third inning when Cal State L.A. scored two runs to tie the game at 3-3. They took the lead with a two-run fifth inning capped by a Manny Acosta two-out single that drove in Daniel Duran.
SF State scored a run in its half of the fifth as
Dustin Wold scored on a fielding error by the Golden Eagles. Wold led off the inning with a double and then stole third and scored when AJ Almarez reached on the error by the visitors.
Cal State L.A added two more runs in the sixth on a two-out two-run single by James Wharton to take a 7-4 lead.
The Gators would not go away as they scored on
Devon King's two-out double to left center that drove in
Matt Quintero in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Jack Jorgensen then pitched a scoreless ninth to set up the heroics.
With one out, Wold and Almarez had back to back walks.
AJ Pianto then hit a double down the left field line to drive in Wold and make the score 7-6 Golden Eagles.
Miguel Flores then walked to load the bases for Lindsay, who hit the first pitch he saw to right field to drive in Almarez and Pianto with the tying and go ahead runs.
Jorgensen (2-1) picked up the win in relief as he pitched four innings, giving up four this and two runs while striking out two and walking two.
Eric Watts recorded the no decision in the start for the Gators.
Cedar Morgan (1-2) picked up the loss for Cal State L.A. as he pitched 0.1 innings, giving up two this and three runs while walking three. Wharton finished the day for the visitors going 3-for-5 with two RBIs while Duran and Acosta each had two hits apiece.
Wold, Lindsay, Quintero and Souza all had two hits to lead the Gators' offense.
The two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow morning at 11am for a conference doubleheader at SF State's Maloney Field. They will conclude the four-game series this Sunday morning also at 11am for a single nine-inning game.
