Box Score BELMONT---- Notre Dame de Namur's Mikhail Wingate-Pearce connected off a header by Jonathan Gonzalez off a free kick by Jesus Gonzalez and knocked the ball in the net for the game-winner three minutes into the overtime period.
The Argonauts (2-1) came out firing in the first half as they outshot their visitors 10-3. The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the 32
nd minute as Jonathan Gonzalez connected on an assist by Armando Garcia. SF State had a chance to tie the game with less than four minutes left in the half, but Jay Tsurouka (who ended the day with three saves) stopped
Jared Magaoay's shot to keep the score at 1-0 Notre Dame de Namur.
SF State tied the game five minutes into the second half as
Edgar Villagrana scored on an unassisted goal after an Argonaut turnover. The Gators took the lead four minutes later as
Kevin Johnson's shot was chipped over the Argonaut goalie off a ball from Villagrana to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
The score remained 2-1 Gators until the 60
th minute when the hosts' Jesus Gonzalez connected on a penalty kick to tie the game at 2-2.
Each team had chances in the final thirty minutes of regulation to take the lead, but their shot attempts either went high or wide to send the game into the extra period.
The only shot attempt in the 10-minute extra period was Wingate-Pearce's golden goal as the Argonauts won their second straight game.
Mike McNeill had four saves in goal for the Gators, who fall to 0-1.
SF State will continue its five-game road trip with another non-conference game against Academy of Art this Wednesday, September 5
th at 7pm at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.
