HSU Records 5-0 Shutout Over Gators

Jakob Velega and the Gators Will face Sonoma State This Sunday in Rohnert Park
Box Score SAN FRANCISCO— The visiting SF State Gators lost 5-0 to the Humboldt State Lumberjacks this afternoon at College Creek Field in Arcata, Calif.  With the win, the Lumberjacks take the season series from the Gators 2-0.
 
Ryan Adres had three saves in the shutout for the hosts while Colt Reichl had 6 saves in goal for SF State (3-7-1, 2-6-1 CCAA).
 
The Lumberjacks held a 23-13 advantage in shots attempts including 9-3 in shots on goal attempts.   Each team recorded six corner kicks. 
 
Zach Hammond scored the hosts first goal in the 40th minute on a pass from Chuck Pitts.  The score remained 1-0 Humboldt State until the 47th minute mark of the second half, when Braxton Griffin scored on an unassisted goal.
 
Hammond scored his second goal in the 67th minute off a free kick from 40 yards out from Peter Darquea.
 
Humboldt State (5-5-1, 3-5-1 CCAA) scored two more goals in the final minutes to take the 5-0 win.
 
SF State will travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., this Sunday morning for an 11:30am starting match with the Seawolves.  Sonoma State played to a 3-3 double overtime tie with Cal State Monterey Bay at home this afternoon.
