“We battled this evening and played well,” said SF State head coach Joe Hunter.  “We just were stung by two quick Triton goals, but we did not give up and played the whole 90 minutes.”

UC San Diego held a 16-9 advantage in shots including 8-3 in shot on goals attempts.  The hosts also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Reichl recorded two of his saves in the first half including one in the 23rd minute stopping Alessandro Canale's attempt of giving the Tritons the 1-0 lead.

The Gators had two more chances in the half to take the lead, but Andrew Ogilvy's shot was blocked by the Triton defense at the 30:28 mark.  Five seconds later, Cohen stopped Chris Behroozian's attempt.

There was one more shot in the half for the Tritons in the 40th minute, but Gerrit Zyll's shot went wide right to send the match in the intermission scoreless.

In the third minute of the second half, the Tritons' Cory Wolfrom connected on a ball from Will Pleskow for his third goal of the season to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

SF State went to tie the match, but Matias Rodriguez had his shot blocked in the 56th minute.  Eight minutes later, the Tritons increased their lead to 2-0 on an Andishe Bagheri's seventh goal of the season off a ball from Zyll.

The score remained 2-0 hosts until the 77th minute when Rodriguez connected for his first collegiate goal off a deflection from Cameron De Jong.

The Tritons defense held still as they did not let their visitors record another shot as they held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Gators will return to the pitch in Pomona, Calif., this Sunday, October 27th for an 11:30am starting match with Cal Poly Pomona.  The Broncos lost 3-1 to Cal State Monterey Bay earlier this afternoon in Pomona.
