Coyotes Hold Off Late Rally By Gators

Box Score SAN FRANCISCO-- SF State Gators had their rally fall short in their regular season home finale 2-1 loss to the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes. The Gators were down 2-0 in the final 6 minutes, when James Aguirre connected on a corner kick from Nick Harb for the hosts' goal. Anthony Rodriguez had four saves in goal for the Gators.

Cal State San Bernardino (5-12, 3-, 3-12-1 CCAA) took the 1-0 in the 17th minute when Raul Gomez connected on a shot from 10 yards out after a cross from Diego Mendoza.

SF State had two chances in the second half to tie the match, but Jeff Salt recorded saves on both of them. The first one coming in the 19th minute on a shot from James Aguirre. Then with three minutes left in the half, Juan Sanchez saw his shot stopped by Salt to send the match into halftime with a Cal State San Bernardino 1-0 lead.

The Coyotes switched goalkeepers at the half and the Gators came after him as Jared Magaoay saw his attempt to tie the match be stopped by Roberto Gonzalez in the third minute.

Cal State San Bernardino increased its lead to 2-0 in the 81st minute as Corey Crist connected on a breakaway from David Perez for his first goal of the season.

The score remained 2-0 Coyotes until the 84th minute when the Gators' James Aguirre connected on a corner kick by Nick Harb to cut the deficit in half.

SF State (3-14-1, 2-13-1 CCAA) had a chance to tie the match at two, but Nick Harb's shot sailed high in the 88th minute as the Coyotes took the 2-1 victory.

Salta and Gonzalez each had two saves in goal for the visitors while Rodriguez had four saves in goal for SF State.

Prior to the match, the Gators recognized two seniors in Chris Behroozian and Anthony Rodriguez.
