TURLOCK, Calif.--- The visiting SF State Gators used a total team effort to key their three set (25-19, 25-15, 25-21) win over the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors. The Gators had a .319 hitting percentage with
Katie Judd had a team high .462 percentage while
Meagan Wright had a .400 percentage.
"Getting a road win the CCAA is very tough," said SF State head coach
Jill Muhe. We are very excited to get such a strong team win on the road."
The match was tied at 11-11 in the first set when the Gators scored 7 of the next 9 points to take a 19-15 lead on a
Katie Judd kill. The Warriors cut the deficit to 20-17, but the guests finished off the first set recording five of the final seven points including the last one on a kill by
Jaclyn Clark.
The second set started almost the same way the first one did with it being tied at 5-5. The Gators took a 15-12 lead on a kill by
Meagan Wright. SF State increased its lead to 18-13 on a kill by
Melissa Horton and never looked back as the Gators took the second set 25-19 to take a 2-0 set advantage into the third set.
Once again in the third set, it was tied at 5-5 when the Gators scored 7 of the next 10 points to take a 12-8 lead on a
Kaileen Mejia. A service ace by Paige Walker cut the deficit to 12-10, but the visitors took a 20-13 lead taking advantage of three hitting errors by the Warriors. They finished off the match scoring five of the matches' final seven points to take the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
Wright finished the evening with 10 kills and 12 digs while
Arianna Cruz also had 12 digs. Mejia had six blocks to go along with her seven blocks. Horton also had double digits in digs with 10 while recording 7 kills.
SF State (12-13, 7-10 CCAA) will return to the court tomorrow evening at 7pm in Chico, Calif., for a CCAA match with the Chico State Wildcats. The Wildcats defeated #14 Sonoma State in three sets this evening and earlier this season Chico State defeated the Gators in three sets in San Francisco.
