@SFState_MSOC To Continue Four-Match Road Trip this Weekend in SoCal

SAN FRANCISCO --  The SF State Gators will continue their season long four-match road trip this weekend with a pair of conference matches in Los Angeles.  The Gators will be in Carson, Calif., for a 7pm match with Cal State Dominguez Hills this Friday, October 10.  Then this Sunday, October 12, they will face Cal State L.A. at 11:30am.
 
The Gators went 0-2 this past weekend in conference matches at Cal State Monterey Bay and Humboldt State.  SF State lost 2-1 to Cal State Monterey Bay this past Friday and 3-2 in double overtime to Humboldt State on Sunday.
 
With their loss on Friday, the Gators had their six-match unbeaten streak snapped which was the longest in school history since 1980.
 
SF State is currently 5-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the CCAA, which places them in a three-way tie for seventh place with Sonoma State and Cal State Monterey Bay.  The top six teams on October 31 in the CCAA will advance to the CCAA Championships which start on November 2 with quarterfinal round matches at the higher seed.  The CCAA semi-finals and finals will take place October 7-9 in Turlock, Calif., on the campus of Cal State Stanislaus.
 
Jakob Velega leads the Gators with his four goals and is tied with Sam Merritt for the team lead with 8 points.  Merritt leads the team with his four assists.  Kevin Johnson has scored a team leading two game-winning goals. 
 
Daniel Boyer and Colt Reichl have shared time in goal this season.  Boyer has seen action in 9 matches and posted a 0.83 goals against average with 3.5 shutouts and 31 saves.  Reichl has seen time in three matches with a 1.35 goals against average, 6 saves and 0.5 shutouts.
 
In CCAA statistics, Boyer is fourth in saves percentage, sixth in goals against average and sixth in shutouts.  Johnson is tied for fifth in game-winning goals while Merritt is tied for sixth in assists.  Velega is also in the top ten in goals as he is tied for seventh.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills is 4-6-1 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA, which places them in sixth place.  Pedro Velasquez leads the way with his five goals, three assists and 13 points.  Chase Gentry and Dylan Roberts reach have seen time in goal for the Toros.
 
Cal State L.A. is 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the CCAA, tied for third with UC San Diego.  Halil Tozar leads the way for the Golden Eagles with his 5 goals, 7 assists and 17 points while Mike Beigarten has posted a 0.44 goals against average with 29 saves and five shutouts.
 
After this weekend, the Gators will return home on October 17 to begin a three-match home stand.  SF State will host No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona at 12:30pm.
