@SFState_WVB Returns Home To Battle Bay Area Rivals

San Francisco – Fresh off a grueling four game road trip, the SF State women's volleyball team makes its return home, taking on Bay Area rivals Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay.  The Gators take on the Otters Friday at 7:00 p.m. and wrap up the weekend taking on the Pioneers on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. there will be live stats and video for both contests.

The Gators (10-12/8-9 CCAA) are currently tied for seventh in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.  Last weekend, the Gators went 1-1 defeating host UC San Diego in five sets in La Jolla before dropping a tough contest to host Cal Poly Pomona. 

As a team, the Gators are averaging 13.36 kills per set which ranks fifth in the CCAA and 47th in the country.  SF State is hitting .209 on the year which ranks sixth in the conference and 73rd in the country.  Leading the Gators on the attack is junior outside hitter Jaclyn Clark.  Clark averages 3.13 kills per set, her 260 kills is sixth in the CCAA and is three shy of a new career-high.

Setter Jacquie Brice moved into fourth place all-time for career assists last weekend.  Brice has 888 on the year which is second in the conference.  She averages 10.70 which is second in the CCAA and 34th in the country.  For her career, Brice has 2,003. 

Libero Jessica Nicerio is set to make history this weekend, with 1,274 career digs, Nicerio is one shy of tying former Gator Iris Tolenada (2009-12) for the most career digs at SF State history.  Nicerio has 367 digs on the season which ranks fifth in the CCAA.  Her 4.48 digs per set is also fifth in the conference. 

Also making her way up the career lists is senior middle blocker Jazmine Williams.  Williams is on pace to put up career-bests in solo blocks, block assists and total blocks this season.  Currently, she ranks sixth all-time with 69 career solo blocks, her 171 block assists is eighth all-time while her 240 total blocks ranks seventh all-time at SF State.

Friday's opponent Cal State Monterey Bay enters this weekend with an 8-14 overall record which includes an 8-10 mark in the CCAA.  They have won four of their last six matches dating back to a five set win over Humboldt State on the road on Oct. 18.  Last weekend, the Otters went 1-1 defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills in five before losing to Cal State L.A. in four.  As a team, Cal State Monterey Bay 11.65 kills per set while hitting .200; their opponents average 14.10 kills per set and are hitting .221.  Leading the team in kills junior outside hitter Jessica Malcolm who has recorded 260 kills on the year, averaging 3.16 kills per set and is hitting .158. 

On Saturday the Gators will host cross bay rivals Cal State East Bay, this will be the third time this year the Gators and Pioneers have squared off, with both teams claiming a win.  The Pioneers enter this weekend with a 9-14 overall record and are 6-12 in conference, at home they are 8-6 but on the road they are just 1-8 on the y ear.  As a team, CSUEB is hitting .198 and averages 12.16 kills per set, both numbers are in the bottom half of the CCAA.  Their opponents are averaging 13.40 kills per set and are hitting .214 against the Pioneers.  Leading the team in kills is Amber Hall.  Hall has 280 kills on the year and averages 3.46 kills per set.
