SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State women's basketball team begins conference play this weekend hosting a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association foes at the SF State Gymnasium at the Don Nasser Family Plaza. The Gators will take on Humboldt State on Friday before facing Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday. Tipoff for both contests is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The Gators enter this weekend's games with an overall record of 0-4. Last week SF State went 0-2 in Washington, falling to Western Washington on November 25 by a score of 76-47, they wrapped up that trip falling to Seattle Pacific 84-54 on Nov. 26.
As a team, SF State is averaging 53.5 points per game, shooting 32.9 percent from the field. Their opponents are averaging 78.8 points per game and are shooting 50.2 percent from the floor. Leading the team with 11.0 points per game is senior guard
Michelle Sutton. Sutton has scored 44 points in 124 minutes, going 14-for-46 from the field, she also has nine assists which leads the team.
Second on the team is
Jasmine Flanagan who is making a big impact early for SF State. The Cleveland State transfer, who utilized her red-shirt season last year is averaging 10 points per contest for the Gators. In her first game for the Gators against Minnesota State-Moorhead she scored a career-high 20 points in the losing effort.
Friday's contest against Humboldt State and the Gators will pit these two teams against each other for the 65
th time, the Gators own a slight 33-31 edge in the series. Last season the two teams split the season series with both teams winning the home contest. The last time these two teams faced each other the Gators won 72-70 in the rematch from earlier in the year.
Leticia Galarza hit a pair of free throws with 23 seconds remaining in the game to put the Gators out front.
Humboldt State enters conference play with all five starters back from last year's squad that went 15-11 overall including 12-9 in the CCAA. They currently boast a 4-1 record and have won three-straight following an overtime loss at the hands of Seattle Pacific on the road on Nov. 15. The last time out the Jacks defeated Dominican 917-74 in Arcata. Leading the team is senior guard Jae Shin. In five games shit averages 15.2 points per game with is sixth in the conference.
Saturday's contest against Cal State San Bernardino will be the 38
th time the two teams have faced each other. The Coyotes currently hold a 21-17 edge in the series but the Gators are 12-6 against the Coyotes in San Francisco. Last season the teams split the season series with both wins going to the home team. The last time they squared off against each other the Coyotes defeated the Gators 83-63 at Coussoulis Arena on Feb. 22, 2014.
Under second year head coach Renee Jimenez the Coyotes are off to their best start in four years. CSUSB enters this weekend's contest with a perfect 4-0 record and are currently receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll. The Coyotes are coming off two-straight wins at the UCSD Thanksgiving Tourney in La Jolla. On Nov. 28 they defeated Azusa Pacific by one and followed that up with an 83-74 win over Academy of Art on Nov. 29. As a team, CSUSB averages 73.0 points per game and is holding their foes to 62.2 points per game.

Brianna Harden is off to a great start for the Coyotes, she averages 12.3 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
