Nick Jackson scored the lone run of the game for the Gators, coming in an exciting ninth inning rally.
Box Score Fresno, Calif. – The SF State baseball team entered the top of the ninth inning needing to score a pair of run to send the game to extra innings, after loading the bases with two outs, the Gators (2-4) fell just short, falling to Fresno Pacific (4-3) 2-1 Friday evening at FPU Diamond.

With two outs in the top of the ninth inning and the bases full of Gators, Fresno Pacific made a call to the bullpen, bringing in reliever Bobby Mendoza, after reliever Chris De La Torre could not close the game out for the Sunbirds.

Second baseman Fernando Escobar worked the count full and eventually drew the RBI bases loaded walk, cutting the Fresno Pacific lead in half.  In the end the rally fell short, as Mendoza closed it out getting Dillon Meyer to hit into a fielder's choice to end the threat and preserve the win.

Preston Tarter (1-2) took the hard luck loss, going eight complete, scattering seven hits, two unearned runs, with two walks and four strike outs.  From the third inning on Tarter did not allow a hit until the eighth inning.

The Sunbirds scored first, putting a pair of runs on the board with the help of defensive miscues.  Bryce Daily led off the inning with a hit to right field; he moved to third after Wilson Ashford singled to third and advanced to second on a throwing error.  Bryce scored on a ground ball to third off the bat of Devin Lee.  Another error extended the inning allowing Ashford to score from third.

Baron Bower (21-0) earned the win going 8.0 complete, scattering five hits, with a walk and 11 strike outs.  The save went to Mendoza it was his first of the year.
Mark Lindsay, Matt Vera, Bryce Cherry, Meyer, and Escobar all collected hits for SF State.  Cherry also picked up two walks.
