Box Score San Francisco, Calif. – The SF State women's basketball had perhaps its finest performance of the season on Saturday night. Their reward was a dominating 78-63 win over No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona at The Swamp. Seniors
Jennifer Le and
Lauren Varney led the way while the Gators (14-10/10-8 CCAA) finished with four players in double figures.

To begin the game both squads came out on fire, the Broncos (15-4/15-3 CCAA) shot 51 percent from the floor gong 16-for-31, the Gators matched shooting 41 percent from the floor and 40 percent from behind the arc.
Cal Poly Pomona raced out front early, but could not get separation from the Gators. The Broncos largest lead of the night was five points, which came with 16:26 following a layup by Ariel Marsh. From there, the two sides traded the lead eight times with the Gators leading by as much six with 8:48 in the first half.
The force behind the scoring output was senior guard
Jennifer Le who scored nine of her career-high 17 point in a stellar first half. Le finished the night going 5-for-6 from the floor and 3-for-3 from deep. In the first half she was perfect.
With the score tied at 38 apiece,
Angela Van Sickel hit a three pointer to go up 41-38, the Gators never relinquished the lead from there, going into halftime leading 41-40.
Leticia Galarza scored three of her nine points to start the second half, the bucket coming off a fast break started by a steal from
Lauren Varney. The Gators defense forced 23 turnovers in the game, scoring 29 points off those turnovers.
Also helping in the second half was the consistent output from Varney, who scored 14 of her 19 points after the intermission. Varney finished 7-for-10 from the floor and 5-for-9 from the charity stripe, she also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Senior
Katie Batlin fell two assists and a rebound shy of a triple double, as she finished the night with 16 points going 6-for-14 from the floor. The eight assists ties a career-high that was set against Chico State on December 6. Van Sickel finished the night with 10 points,
Michelle Sutton scored five and
Brianna Harden added two.
With 10:33 in the second half Ashley Lovett cut the Gators lead to six, that wa the closest the Broncos would get, Le put the game away with a three with 8:50, Van Sickel's three point basket with 1:54 left in the game gave SF State their largest lead of the night, going up 22.
With the win on Saturday, Dr. Wallace moves into sole possession of second place with 97 career wins. The Gators return to action on Friday, February 21 when they travel to face UC San Diego at 5:30 p.m.
