SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gators' women's basketball team is coming off a 2-0 weekend at home as they moved into a three-way tie for fifth place in the CCAA standings with just two weeks left in the regular season. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a bid to the 2013-14 CCAA Basketball Championship Tournament at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., March 6-8. SF State will be on the road this wekend as they will face UC San Diego (Friday., Feb. 21) and Cal State San Bernardino (Saturday, Feb. 22).
The Gators are 14-10 overall and 10-8 in the CCAA and are tied with Cal State Stanislaus and UC San Diego. SF State went 2-0 last week at home with a 72-70 win over Humboldt State and a 78-63 win over No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona.
Katie Batlin leads the Gators with her 15.2 scoring average followed by
Angela Van Sickel at 13.5 and
Lauren Varney at 11.8.
After this weekend, the Gators will return home for the final time as they host Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay on February 28 and March 1 in their final games of the regular season. Prior to their game with Cal State Monterey Bay, the Gators will recognize their seniors in
Katie Batlin,
Kimmie Fung,
Jennifer Le,
Angela Van Sickel and
Lauren Varney in a pre-game ceremony. Game times for all four games are set for 5:30pm.
