Gators Fall to Warriors to begin four game series

Grady Espinosa went 1-for-3 in the losing effort on Friday.
Box Score TURLOCK--  SF State's baseball team fell to host Cal State Stanislaus 6-1 Friday afternoon at Warrior Field to begin a four game California Collegiate Athletic Association series.  The Gators (5-6/0-1 CCAA) were held to just one run on three hits, while the Warriors (5-3/1-0 CCAA) tallied six runs on 12 hits.

Preston Tarter took the loss, falling to 1-4 after going 6.1 innings, allowing eight hits, five runs, three earned with a walk and three strike outs.

Grady Espinosa, Mark Lindsay, and Dillon Meyer accounted for all three hits on the afternoon.  Bryce Cherry had the lone RBI for the Gators.
 
Bryce Cherry gave the Gators a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as he drove in Carter Loud with a sacrifice fly to left field. Loud lead off the game with a walk and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Wes Carswell.  Loud advanced to third on a single through the left side by Grady Espinosa.
 
The Warriors took the lead as they scored two runs in the second capped by a Colt McLaughlin singled that drove in Erikssen Dickens. 
 
The score remained 2-1 Warriors until the sixth inning, when they erupted for four runs on five hits and two errors. 
 
Jeremy McDonald (2-0) picked up the win, going 8.2 innings, giving up three hits and one run while striking out three and walking four.
 
The two teams will continue the four-game series tomorrow with a 11am starting doubleheader at SF State's Maloney Field.
