SAN FRANCISCO – SF State Gators rebounded from their 6-1 loss yesterday afternoon at Cal State Stanislaus with a sweep of this afternoon's doubleheader at SF State's Maloney Field.  
Jack Veronin and 
Ryan Bohnet each improved to 2-0 while 
Cory Davis recorded his fifth save as the Gators improve to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the CCAA 
 
"We received two great starts from Jack (Veronin) and Ryan (Bohnet) this afternoon," said SF State head coach 
Mike Cummins.  "We did not make any errors today and we executed our bunts and had some great at bats." 
 
The Warriors (5-5, 1-2 CCAA) took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning.  Colton Beatty singled with one out and went to third on a two-out single through the left side by Brent Hall.  Hall then stole second and scored along with Beatty on a two-out double by Marcus Mastrobuoni. 
 
The game remained 2-0, Cal State Stanislaus, until the Gator half of the fourth. 
 
Mark Lindsay and 
Bryce Cherry had back-to-back singles to lead off the fourth.  Lindsay scored on a single by 
Carter Loud.  
Garrett Heisinger then hit a two-run single up the middle to give the Gators the 3-2 lead, which drove in Cherry and Loud. 
 
SF State added insurance runs in the fifth and eighth innings to give the hosts a 5-2 lead heading into the ninth.
 
Cory Davis came in the ninth and retired the side in order to record his fifth save of the season and preserve the win for the Gators and Veronin.
 
Veronin (2-0) pitched 8 innings of 9-hit ball, while giving up two runs and striking out three.
 
"Jack (Veronin) battled back from a rough start in the first inning and gave us the chance to come back for the win while Cory (Davis) has been Mr. Dependable coming out of the bullpen," added Cummins. 
 
 Martin Gomez (0-1) picked up the loss for the Warriors.  Mastrobuoni had three of the Warriors' nine hits.
 
SF State had 9 hits in the opener led by Lindsay's three hits while Heisinger drove in three of the Gators' five runs.

In the night cap, the Gators took advantage of three errors by their guests as they blanked the Warriors, 5-0.
 
Bohnet (2-0) picked up his first collegiate shutout as he gave up 7 hits, while striking out three and walking two.
 
Espinosa scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first of the seven-inning game.  He reached as he was hit by a pitch and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by 
Dillon Meyer.  Then advanced to third on a ground out by Lindsay and scored when Cherry reached on a fielding error to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
 
SF State added two more runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead.  The Gators added two more insurance runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 5-0.
 
Beatty finished the night cap with two hits for the Warriors while Nick Voumard (0-1) picked up the loss for the visitors.
 
SF State had just four hits in the night cap with

Matt Vera each with one of them.  Espinosa scored two of the Gators' five runs and Lindsay and Vera each drove in a run.
 
"I am glad that Ryan (Bohnet) recorded the complete game shutout," noted Cummins.  "He mixed his pitched and stayed ahead of his count and went after the batters today."  "Now we need to carry this momentum into tomorrow's series finale and pick up the series win."
 
The series will move to Turlock for the finale of the four-game weekend series for a noon starting time.
