Box Score San Francisco, Calif. – The SF State women's basketball team said goodbye to five seniors in Saturday night, as they played their final home game in the purple and gold. Unfortunately for the Gators, they were not able to go out winners, as they fell to the Otters by a final score of 61-50 at The Swamp.
The Gators (14-14/10-12 CCAA) battled the Otters (8-17/5-17 CCAA) to a tight opening half, going into the locker room trailing by three following a three point basket by senior
Jennifer Le. Coming out of the break the Gators could not hold onto that momentum as Cal State Monterey Bay opened the second half on a frenzy pushing their lead to as high as 13.
Leading the team was senior
Katie Batlin who scored a game-high 18 points, going 5-for-13 from the floor with five rebounds and five assists. Fellow senior
Lauren Varney finished with a double-double tallying 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Angela Van Sickel, Le, and
Kimmie Fung finished with three, seven and two points respectively.
To begin the game the Gators jumped out to an earl 6-0 run after made buckets by Le, Varney and Fung. The Otters responded, tying the game at six on a layup by Ashley Morgan with 14:45 to play in the half. The two sides battled to a draw four more times, with the game knotted up at 14-14 with 7:21 to play.
Cal State Monterey Bay finished the first half going on a 13-5 run over the final seven minutes, culminating in a jumper by Morgan, who scored 11 of her team-high 17 points in the first half. The eight point lead was the Otters' largest of the half.
Offensively, SF State outshot Cal State Monterey Bay in the opening half. The Gators connected on 10-of-31 from the floor, but was just 1-for-9 from behind the arc. The difference in the opening half being the disparity in free throws, as the Otters went to the line seven times, hitting six, while the Gators could only convert three of six.
In the second half SF Stat's three point shooting woes continued as they connected on just two shots from deep in 10 attempts. The Otters meanwhile, upped the pressure, forcing nine turnovers in the half which accounted for nine points.
With 8:35 in the game Brittany Allison took a pass from Batlin for a layup to cut the Otters lead to five, that was as close as SFSU would get. The Otters finished off the game with a pair of free throws go up 11 with 30 seconds left in regulation.
With the loss the Gators season comes to an end, they finish the year attaining a .500 overall record and finished 10-12 in the competitive CCAA.
