Chico – The SF State track and field team had a night filled with new personal records Saturday evening at the Twilight Invitational hosted by Chico State at University Stadium. Highlighting the evening was the performance
Maya Cabiness displayed in the 400 hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:00.54. Several other Gators also set new records in their respective events.
"Big day for the Gators," said assistant coach Nicole Schutte. "
Janesha Anthony had a PR in the 100 moving her up the list for Provisional.
Maya Cabiness came out and blasted the field with a 60.5 which puts her sixth in the nation. Our throwers backed it up with both
Symone Ramirez and
Alex Jones having PR's in the shot. Symone PR'ed in the discus with a throw of 117.3, Alex also had a PR in the hammer a new event for her this year."
In the women's 100m sprint Anthony finished first in the preliminaries with a time of 11.85, she finished second overall in the finals clocking in at 11.98.
Hilary King also finished in the top-10 in the final, finishing sixth with a time of 12:39.
In the 200m sprint
Brionne Baucham took second with a time of 25:27,
Ashley Black took fourth with a time of 25.61.
Cabiness took first overall in the 400 hurdles her official time of 1:00.54 good enough for a provisional mark and a new school record.
Jordan Guerrero finished ninth with a time of 1:08.79.
Ashley Black took second in the finals of the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.77.
In the 4x100 relay the lineup of Anthony, Cabiness, King, and Baucham took first with a time of 46:57, which once again set a provisional mark.
The 4x400 relay of Baucham, Guerrero,
Kareezia Younger, and Cabiness took third with a time of 4:01.56.
In the long jump
Hilary King jumped 5.68 (18-7.25") in the prelims, only to beat that, jumping 5.78 (18-11.75) to finish third overall.
Ruth Le Beau placed ninth in the final with a distance of 18-3.75".
"The weather was ideal jumping conditions and I was feeling really good and determined for the meet," said
Hilary King. "Practice went really well this week and I wanted to translate that into today's competition."
Angel Hill took fifth in the final of the triple jump with a distance of 10.81m (35-5.75") the same distance that was good enough or fourth in the preliminaries.
Alex Jones took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.97m (39-3.25"). In the discus
Michelle Chung took second overall with a throw of 41.67 (137-00), Ramirez placed ninth in the final with a throw of 35.22 (115-07).
The Gators will return to action on Friday, April 18 when the Gators travel south to participate in the Brian Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and the Beach Invitational hosted by Cerritos College on Saturday April 19.
